Have you ever really pondered the fact that God's love is unconditional?
God's love is a lot of things but unconditional is one that gets me. To say that God's love for us is unconditional is to say that His love for us is not based on condition. It is not based on the condition of our lives, or even the condition of our hearts. No matter what, He loves us. Even those who have abused the freewill God has given us, and those who live by their flesh.
Isn't that all of us?
What about people out there like Pimps and Johns (men who buy sex)? We look at them and what do we see? We see the condition of their hearts. They are under death, they are living in darkness and sometimes even under the ruling of demons. Yet God's word says that even those things will not separate His love from them.
Romans 8:37; No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life , neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God has given us freewill. Some people choose to live by the Spirit and walk in the knowledge of God’s love, still slipping up and falling prey to our flesh, but we have this hope to hold onto that God’s love is constant. Pimps and Johns are using their freewill to walk each day letting the mind of their flesh rule in their lives, which leads to hostility towards God, so of course the conditions of their lives are not going to be good.
Looking at this issue of Sex Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation some may ask the question; If God has such amazing love why does this issue exist? Why doesn’t God just fix everything?
The very fact that God loves us and that nothing can separate us from His love is the reason why He doesn’t just fix everything.
For God to end Human Trafficking as a whole would be to go against Himself
To make all the pimps quit, and to end the demand for sex would be taking away the freewill of pimps and the Johns and all those involved in producing the whole sex industry. God would be saying He made a mistake by ever creating freewill which would be going against the truth that God is perfect love.
Overall, YES. God could end all of Human Trafficking, the whole Sex industry, but it’s because of this love this inseparable love that he does not end it.
Does this make our mission to fight for justice in this issue pointless and an aimless journey? NO! More than ending the issue we are on a mission to declare to these people that God is in a relentless pursuit of them. They need someone to tell them the things they are doing in their lives, and the darkness they live in is not too much for God and that those things are nothing compared to God’s love.
Sure there could be all sorts of arguments against what I’ve said, but the truth that I believe is that God’s love is unconditional. If that is the case then it is true of even Pimps and Johns, it is true for alcoholics, abusive parents, drug addicts, murderers, EVERYONE! Because those things are nothing to our God, He is greater.
Knowing all this we can walk confidently in the knowledge of God’s love because we all screw up, we all fall short. But since there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus even if we have a set-back we don’t have to stay there, we can continue on in God’s Grace.
Those who don’t walk knowing they are loved by God, Pimps, Johns, the women on the street, the children being trafficked, God has placed them on my heart and called me to love them as He does. Despite the condition of their lives God has called me to love them.
It is only because of God’s ultimate example of love that I can.
