Four weeks. That’s how long I have left here at Youth With a Mission Los Angeles. As I first made the 2 year commitment as a staff here, it felt like I was committing a lifetime to this community, but now I find that that lifetime is already ending. I admit that it felt so long in some seasons, but in other times the days flew right past me.
I wish I could sum up what it has been like living and serving in this community for 2 years, but I’d say that is nearly impossible to do in a newsletter that you would even have the time to read. What I can say though is that YWAM has been a place of transformation for me. I came in completely unaware of what God wanted to do in my life, but the whole time he knew what he was doing. My view of God has changed, which then changed my view of myself, which then changed my view of what God can do through me to make him known around the world. It sounds simple but it took 2 years for that transformation to take place, it took a lot of really difficult seasons, as well as many amazing seasons. The thing is though this transformation never is going to stop. No matter where I am in the world or what I am doing God is going to continue to remove the things that are not of him and renew me and mold me into his image. I am excited to live a life devoted to God, He is worth it!
As for now, the next steps for me are to move home to Seattle. There I will be working to save money to go to Cosmetology school. After attending the School of Ministry Development for the last 3 months here at YWAM L.A., I have grown in confidence and I am certain that God wants to use me to further his kingdom. And I want to do that through being a hairstylist. In my heart I have a huge vision and dreams of what I want to do through becoming a hairstylist, but I have no idea what the future holds, I can only be obedient right now to where God is guiding me and trust that he sees my heart. All I know is that I am excited to live every day, with my ear toward heaven listening for where God is leading me in every moment. I trust him, and am confident he will lead me exactly where he wants me to be.
I hope every single one of you can understand how grateful I am that you have supported me in my time at YWAM. Depending on the Lord to provide finances through others is one of the most humbling things to learn, and God has proved faithful through it all. I want to say thank you so very much for your generosity with your finances, with your time, your words of encouragement, and all the prayers you have covered me with. There is absolutely no possible way I could have done this without your support, THANK YOU!
I am planning to continue keeping my blog, and that is a good way to stay informed on what I am up to. You are welcome to contact me and chat whenever you want to, and of course through social media as well!
God bless every one of you!
Love, Emily
