This last week was a really great week! Sharon Ojai spoke in our school and we took about 4 different personality tests all to help us better understand ourselves. And let me tell you I have never felt so understanding of who I am and how I think the way I do until she came and taught us.
Sharon really spoke Identity into us through these tests, each of us having different outcomes she never seemed to favor one or the other with how she spoke of them. She always made the point that we need to know who we are and own it!
She said this, “We need to agree with who God created us to be, own who you are. If we don’t see ourselves as something valuable and then we go and sacrifice our lives to God…then what are we even sacrificing if we don’t see ourselves as having any value?”
That really impacted me, and challenged me to really take this week seriously and do my best to learn who I am so I can be more confident in that.
Something I noticed when everyone was presenting their results of what they got with their tests and with sharing our dreams, I saw that all of our gifts, talents, and strengths aligned with our dreams. In a way studying who we are revealed more about God because it was evident that the dreams God put into each of our hearts were actually his desire, and he know that when he formed us. He knows what we need, He knows the desires of our hearts and he gives them to us simply because he wants to.
After this week I really feel a lot more confident knowing that I am really talented and great at some things but I am also not so good in others things, but that is okay! That is why we all need each other because we all are the body of Christ, like Sharon says, and we all have a part to play and we are all hugely important to the body. We also all can learn a lot from one another and our differences, as long as we are willing to agree to disagree on some things, and to love each other despite what our differences are.
Also I feel confident that what God is calling me to do, He already has set me up with what I need to get there and there really is no one quite like me in the world. And maybe there will be days I critique myself too much and wonder why I suck at doing certain things, but knowing I trust and am walking through life with God is all I need. He gives me grace in my weaknesses and it actually says in the bible that his power is made perfect in our weaknesses. So what do I have to worry about if I have what God has given me and the things I don’t have, Gods power is actually perfected in that? That’s pretty Amazing!
Thank you Jesus for making me in your image and for making me, me. I love you!
