Who is this Girl?
I started my blog, To Shine Light and Expose Beauty, 2 years ago as a way to commuicate what God was doing as I served as a missionary for Youth WIth A Mission Los Angeles. As I completed my comittment with YWAM LA I took a step of faith to move back home to Seattle to pursue schooling as a hair stylist.
have a vision to use a simple talent and skill like hair styling, to speak truth and Identity into people all over the world. I also have a heart to impact the lives of youth in our culture who struggle with loving themselves, becaues they dont know the truth of who they are in Christ.
That is the reason my blog is called, To Shine Light and Expose Beauty, because my mission in life is to shine light into any individual God brings into my life and allow the light of Jesus to shine so bright that it exposes the beauty that is waiting to be discovered within every person. I believe that EVERY person was created with a purpose and created in the Image of God, but not everyone knows that, so I have surrendered my life to God so that He might use me to help others discover their true God given purpose.
3 years ago I gave my life to God so that He may take me to the ends of the earth or wherever he wants to use me, and hes been taking me on a journey ever since I've allowed him to take control. My blog is simply my way of processing different season of my life journey. I do keep a journal but sometimes writing and sharing the journey socially helps make it more real. Also i want to be open to allowing God to use my journey to help others on their own journey as well.
I pray whoever comes accross my blog is nothing but encouraged and empowered to surrender their life completely and totally to Jesus, and keep seeking him in their life journey.
Thanks for reading :)

Hey everyone! I am so excited that you have decided to check out my blog! What a cool way for people to really get inside my head and see what is happening in my life as I journey into a world of missions.
To start my name is Emily Hopf, I am 19 years old born and raised in Mountlake Terrace , Washington. I was home schooled till 11th grade and then did the Running Start program at Shoreline Community College.
It has been a journey getting to where I am at today. When I graduated High School In 2013 I had no clue what to do with no intentions of continuing college so I decided to fly down to Los Angeles to go through a Discipleship Training School with the Youth With A Mission organization. This was always something I wanted to do but I figured it would be later on in life, but God had other things in store and said you are going now. Somehow I was able to get on that airplane and head down to a place where I knew absolutely no body, with only 1,000 dollars saved up for the school fees. I needed somewhere around 8,000 dollars to complete the school. God provides. I graduated the Justice Discipleship Training School in March of this year (2014).
Having gone through this school my life has been forever changed. As we say in YWAM "I was wrecked for the ordinary". I fell in love with God. He became the reason I am living this life, not to be successful and have everything that this world has to offer, but to share this love that has dramatically altered my life forever. He has given me desires and visions for the youth, my passion is to see the youth of this generation experience the love of Jesus. It is powerful love. My souls longing is to see the transformation of young people hearts, to see the darkness in their lives destroyed and to watch the light expose the beauty that God himself placed there for a purpose.
The issue of Sex trafficking and Human Trafficking is burdened on my heart as well. The injustices that are taking place all over the world are not to be ignored or taken lightly. The Justice Discipleship Training School is focused on reaching out to those involved in Sex Trafficking and Human Trafficking. We are called to take action and reach out to the men and women who are prostituted all over Los Angeles, we are called to pray and intercede for the men and women trafficking children of all ages. We are on a mission not to make a dent in the issue and see a part of it fizzle away but we want to see it end completely! God can do the impossible. Period. In our human comprehension it seems way beyond us to be able to end slavery, but God can do the impossible, he just wants to use us to do it. He is searching all over for those who will go for those who will do the most impossible things. He has called me to be one of them, and the more I am getting to know who God is the more I know that I can trust Him and let Him use me wherever He pleases.
This blog you are reading will be about my personal journey and walk with God. Revelations, experiences and Ideas that are taking place as this journey is carried out. I will be living in Los Angeles for the next 2 years as a staff member of the Justice school through YWAM, in other words my dreams are coming true! I love what I do and it is only because I have a God that knows the desires of my heart that I am able to live every day doing what I love!
I hope God speaks to you through my writing, and that you are able to see that if we let God take control of our lives, He will use you in ways you can never imagine!
